Deborah Stratman

The Memory
2008, video, 2 minutes

Synopsis
A single-shot tribute to seminal experimental filmmaker and artist Bruce Conner who passed away in July 2008. The film and its title are inspired by Robert Creeley’s poem of the same name.

Like a river she was,
huge roily mass of water
carrying tree trunks
and drivers drunks.

Like a Pricilla, a feminine Benjamin,
a whore gone right over
the falls,
she was.

Did you know her.
Did you love her, brother.
Did wonder pour down
on the whole goddamn town.
